Waratah Hills was planted 17 years ago in the burgundy style of low trellising and close planting.
It is a beautifully sited vineyard with two acres of Chardonnay planted on a north south slope and seven acres of Pinot Noir separated by a band of trees into two distinctly different areas of the property.
Pinot Noir is the signature variety at Waratah Hills. We have four distinct clones ; mv6, d2v5, g5v15 and h7v15.
Waratah Hills wines are made by a young local wine maker Marcus Satchell. Marcus’s natural and intuitive approach to wine making alongside our passion towards producing the best possible fruit has resulted in a very happy partnership. Our Pinot Noir and Chardonnay have made the wine list of some of Australia’s top restuarants.
In 2011, Waratah Hills released a second label called Prom Road. Prom Road wines are made from grapes purchased from two other south Gippsland Vineyards and made by our winemaker to compliment our own single vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
In 2012 we were delighted to receive the Victorian Tourism Minister’s Encouragement Award for New and Emerging Tourism Businesses.
